DB CARGO – DUST SUPPRESSION

Maddison Water Technology was contracted by DB Cargo at the end of 2019 to provide a dust control solution to the proposed redevelopment works for the new rail freight terminal in Cricklewood, North London.  The new 150-hectare development has been divided into four plots to provide storage and handling of large volumes of aggregates and spoil into and out of the capital, supporting major construction projects like HS2 and the ongoing regeneration of Brent Cross.

REQUIREMENTS

A fully automated dust suppression system was required on two plots used for aggregate and spoil storage to meet the requirements of the planning application to mitigate potential dust issues for local businesses and residents.

Maddison Water Technology undertook the supply and installation of independent dust suppression systems to each plot, completing the works on time in March 2020.  Each system comprises of a water storage tank, pumping system and pole-mounted rainguns controlled by an automatic control system located within the weighbridge.

Our system doesn’t just provide environmental benefits of dust control but also has a green aspect utilizing an underground spring to provide a primary source of water feeding the dust suppression systems.  A boosted groundwater transfer system feeds CAT5 protected water storage tanks on both plots with the provision to extend to further plots in future.
